Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing business operations, delegating tasks to team members and resolving problems that occur on their shift. Their duties include stocking inventory, balancing the cash register and coordinating employee responsibilities to improve efficiency or customer service

Responsibilities:        

  • Oversee the smooth operation of the restaurant during assigned shifts.
  • Coordinate and delegate tasks to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Monitor and manage both kitchen and front-of-house activities.
  • Supervise and lead team members during assigned shifts.
  • Ensure staff adherence to company policies and standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
  • Address customer concerns and resolve issues promptly.
  • Ensure a positive dining experience for guests.
  • Manage and process customer orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate order preparation.
  • Handle customer inquiries and special requests.
  • Supervise cash register operations.
  • Provide change and receipts to customers.
  • Ensure accurate cash handling procedures are followed.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels during the shift.
  • Assist in placing orders and restocking supplies as needed.
  • Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste.
  • Train and onboard new team members.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to improve performance.
  • Ensure team members are familiar with safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Effectively communicate with team members and management.
  • Relay important information about promotions, menu changes, and procedural updates.
  • Collaborate with other shift managers for a smooth transition between shifts.
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and overall service standards.
  • Address any deviations from established quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Implement security measures to safeguard assets and prevent theft.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Address any safety concerns promptly.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or shift management role, preferably in the restaurant industry.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make decisions quickly and effectively.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic math skills for cash handling and inventory management.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and restaurant operations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
